"what I hear I forget, what I see I remember,
what I do I understand."
About the Program:
Ser.en.dip.i.ty [ser-uhn-dip-i-tee]- Noun 1. Luck in making desirable discoveries by accident
Serendipity is a fun, loving, play-based early learning program where the curriculum is based on observations of the children’s interests to create child led projects and a child led environment ~ the emergent curriculum, as well as a gentle introduction to Montessori Programming. Children will have the opportunity to develop their intellectual, emotional, social, creative and physical skills through a variety of activities throughout the day at their own pace during structured and non-structured times, inside and outside.
I believe that children need to feel safe and secure in their environment, before they can learn and grow and make discoveries. Building strong relationships with each child and family is my primary emphasis.
I believe every child is an individual, and is unique and I aim to provide each of them what they need in order to develop at their own pace.
I believe that children learn best through play and social interactions. Children are encouraged to become as independent as possible, through role modeling, positive reinforcement, trust, love and care.
My goal is to provide opportunities to assist your child in developing a positive self image which includes self acceptance and a healthy sense of confidence in his or her own abilities.
I provide experiences and activities that will fulfill your child’s individual developmental needs (social, emotional, creative, intellectual, and physical).
I provide guidance in helping your child in becoming a responsible individual, respecting the feelings of others, and offer experiences that will stimulate an interest in future learning.
Serendipity offers a 1:10 Educator to Child ratio.

Flow of the Day: Please note that while there is a schedule of activities, I have not marked the times as everyday the times can be different, however, the routine stays the same.
Outside: Children's parents/guardians will come to the play yard and drop off their child and go inside and sign them in for the day and put their snack in the basket. We spend a lot of our time outdoors playing, exploring, creating and enjoying nature. Our time outside is at least 1/2 hour long, sometimes we spend the entire days outside too!
Children come in and remove outdoor wear and put on indoor shoes, wash hands and play (am engage in open snack)
Gathering: A "group led" gathering to talk about what is happening for the children. Sing songs, read stories, etc. emerging on the children's needs and interests of the day. Montessori activities will be presented to the group at this time.
Open Snack: Children will wash their hands and join at the tables to have a healthy snack and water. Snack times are an important time of the day for the children where we teach hygiene, sharing taking turns and healthy eating. Children will have the opportunity to socialize with all the children at the table, while having their snacks.
Play: Children will have the opportunity to learn through their experiences at each of the centres to hear, move, listen, see and touch the materials. Such centres as: home-living, science, music, art, blocks and manipulatives. Children will have opportunities to develop their curiosity, socialize, problem solve, express their thoughts and feelings, share, take turns, and be a part of the learning environment. During this time we also bake, make play dough and have science experiments.
During play time children will have one on one Montessori presentations and have the opportunity to explore and engage with the Montessori Materials set out for them.
