Welcome to Serendipity Early Years Centre
At Serendipity, I believe childhood is a time to wonder, explore, play, create, connect and discover. My goal is to provide a warm, nurturing environment where children feel a genuine sense of belonging and are supported to grow at their own pace.
Serendipity is a child-centred, play-responsive early years program where children’s interests, ideas and questions help shape our days. Rather than following a predetermined curriculum, I observe, listen and reflect on what the children are curious about. These observations become the foundation for our emergent curriculum, child-led projects and an environment that evolves alongside the children.
Through play, meaningful relationships and hands-on experiences, children are given opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, creatively, intellectually and physically. Our days include a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences, with plenty of time to explore nature, engage with open-ended materials, create, problem-solve, move their bodies and follow their own ideas.
I also incorporate a gentle introduction to Montessori-inspired experiences, encouraging children to develop independence, concentration, responsibility and confidence through purposeful, hands-on learning.
Relationships Come First
I believe children need to feel safe, secure, valued and connected before they can truly learn and explore.
Building strong, trusting relationships with each child and their family is at the heart of Serendipity. I take the time to get to know each child as an individual, their personality, interests, strengths, needs and unique ways of learning.
Every child develops differently, and there is no expectation that children should all learn or accomplish something at the same time. Instead, I provide the support, encouragement and opportunities each child needs to grow at their own pace.
Learning Through Play
Play is at the heart of everything we do.
Through play and social interactions, children develop the confidence to try new things, solve problems, communicate their ideas, navigate relationships and make sense of the world around them.
Children are encouraged to become increasingly independent through trust, encouragement, positive guidance, modelling, love and care. They are given the time and space to try things for themselves, make choices, take appropriate risks, and discover what they are capable of.
My hope is that each child leaves Serendipity with a growing sense of self-worth, confidence and acceptance of who they are, knowing that their ideas matter, their voice is heard and they are capable of wonderful things.
A Small Group, Meaningful Connections
Serendipity offers a 1:8 educator-to-child ratio, with a maximum of eight children each day.
Keeping the group small allows me to be truly present with the children, to notice the little things, listen to their ideas, follow their interests and build meaningful relationships.
It creates a calm, connected environment where children have the space to be themselves, develop friendships and feel a strong sense of belonging.
At Serendipity, learning isn’t something we simply do to children. It grows from our relationships with them, from their curiosity, and from the experiences we share together.
My hope is that Serendipity feels like a place where children can slow down, be curious, get messy, ask questions, make discoveries and simply enjoy being a child.

Class times are 8:45 am - 3:00 pm, except Fridays- the class time is 8:45 am - 1:00 pm
Flow of the Day - While every day is dependent on many circumstances, I will have a “flexible schedule”, however, the routine stays the same.
8:45-9:00 a.m. - Arrival - Outside - Children will have the opportunity to play outside, explore and engage in activities set out for the day while outside. Children are welcome to eat their snacks when they feel hungry.
Inside - Gathering - Welcome children for the day. A “group-led” gathering to talk about what is happening for the children. Sing songs, read stories, etc. emerging on the children’s needs and interests of the day.
Open Snack - Children will wash their hands and join at the table when they are ready to have a healthy snack and water. Nutrition times are an important time of the day for the children where hygiene is modeled, sharing, taking turns and healthy eating. Children will have the opportunity to socialize with all the children at the table, while eating their food.
Play - Children will have the opportunity to learn through their experiences at each of the centres to hear, move, listen, see, and touch the materials. Such centres as: housekeeping, science, music, art, blocks, loose parts, manipulatives and sensory table. Children will have the opportunities to develop their curiosity, socialize, problem solve, express their thoughts and feelings, share, take turns, and be a part of the learning environment.
